Bertha Park High School

A significant new school for Scotland, achieving a sustainable form while providing hi tech facilities protected by a smoke ventilation system and enhanced with Natural Ventilation provided by Kilpatrick Blane Services.

About The Project

This high tech school designed by Norr Architects and delivered by Robertson Construction brings state of the art facilities to 1,100 students, and a new era of digital and innovative learning techniques.
The school was the first non replacement secondary school to be built in Scotland for over 25 years, and has won the Education Buildings Scotland, Award for Transforming Learning, Teaching and Curriculum in 2019.

Highly glazed facades connect the occupants with natural outside light and ventilation provided via a mixture of automated blinds, louvres, windows and rooflights – all controlled via a Kilpatrick Blane Services installed solution integrated into the BMS. Intelligent design and components allow for BacNet integration, control and feedback, and precise incremental control of vents to prevent over ventilating the spaces. Some elements of the system are also designed to provide a dual purpose of smoke ventilation in the event of a fire.

Bertha Park was one of only 17 schools globally to be selected as a Microsoft Flagship School.
